From 12-14 April 2024, the Specialty Coffee Expo took place in Chicago. Sulotco Jaya Abadi also participated in this annual event.
At the Specialty Coffee Expo 2024 event which was organized by Specialty Coffee Association, Sulotco presented some of their coffee products, planted from their Arabica coffee plantation in Toraja. Aside from that, Sulotco also presented several of their coffee variants from various regions of Indonesia, including Semendo coffee from South Sumatra, Gayo coffee from Aceh, Ijen coffee from Central Java, and Cikajang coffee from West Java. Each coffee has its own unique flavor, which compels people to try them.
Specialty Coffee Expo 2024 which took place at McCormick Place Lakeside Convention Center, Chicago, was attended by 602 exhibitors from various countries, making the event the largest number of exhibitors in the history of Specialty Coffee Expo. It was attended by 17.000 visitors from 85 countries, which is a 23% increase from 2019’s record. In this event, buyers will meet coffee industry players from various circles, from upstream to downstream. From this event, it is hoped that it would spark new partnership potentials and transactions, which will then increase the value of the international coffee industry.
During those three days of said event, Sulotco’s booth presented various kinds of activities. Visitors can try sampling and cupping some coffee variations that were provided. Sulotco’s booth was also honored by the visit from the United State’s Embassy of Republic Indonesia.
Sulotco Jaya Abadi is an Arabica coffee plantation located at an altitude of 1500-1700 masl, which grows along the slopes of Ranterkarua mountain, Tana Toraja, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. This plantation was established in 1928, by a Dutch called H.J Stock Van Dykk. This plantation once “disappeared” during the war in 1945, but it was later nationalized by the government of the Republic of Indonesia and then managed by Sulotco Jaya Abadi in 1987.
Sulotco is a certified organic Toraja coffee grower. Sulotco has been consistently in the top 10 of Indonesia’s Cup of Excellence for two consecutive years. With its flagship product being Arabica green bean coffee with USDA, S 795, and Catuai variants, Sulotco has exported its products to several countries, including Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Japan, Turkmenistan, and the United States. After this event, it is hoped that Toraja coffee and other coffees from various regions of Indonesia will gain greater prestige internationally, it would increase Indonesia’s economy and trading, especially regarding the coffee industry.
