Sulotco at KKSI 2024

The Indonesian Specialty Coffee Contest or KKSI is an event to select coffee beans with the best quality and taste which aims to improve the quality of raw materials for the coffee processing industry.

First held in 2008, the first KKSI was initiated by the Association of Indonesian Coffee Exporters and Industries (AEKI) together with the Indonesian Coffee and Cocoa Research Center (PPKKI) and sponsored by the Kapal Api Group. Entering its 16th year in 2024, this KKSI event was initiated by the Ministry of Industry, the Coffee and Cocoa Research Center (Puslitkoka), and the Pranoto Soenarto Foundation (PSF). Sulotco Jaya Abadi also attended KKSI 2024 as a sponsor of this event as well as a participant with Toraja coffee as its signature.

In KKSI 2024, the committee received 532 coffee samples from coffee farmers throughout Indonesia consisting of 147 samples of Natural Arabica, 150 samples of Wash Arabica, and 235 samples of Robusta. From the three categories, 15 of the best samples will be selected from each category that have gone through a long and strict selection process by the cupper team from Puslitkoka.

The peak event of KKSI 2024 will take place from 15-18 October 2024 at the Industrial Plaza of the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, Jl. Gatot Subroto Kav.52-53, Jakarta. At this event, a coffee exhibition will be held which will be attended by 38 participants, one of which is Sulotco Jaya Abadi, as well as other interesting events such as Fun Brewing, Public Cupping, National Coffee Seminar to the Grand Final of the Coffee Tasting Competition (coffee cupping) which is the peak event to find the winner of each coffee category. In addition to the judges from Indonesia, there were also judges from America, Myanmar, and China who participated in the assessment.

From the judges’ assessment process, the names of the winners for each category were finally obtained. The Robusta category was won by Global Inovasi Maju – Bermani ulu, Rejang Lebong, Bengkulu. The 2nd winner for this category was Bambang Riyanto – Wonotunggal, Batang, Central Java, and the 3rd winner was Faizal Kamay – Pringsurat, Temanggung, Central Java.

The Natural Arabica category was won by Agus Soma – Rancasari, Bandung, West Java. The 2nd winner for this category was Guruh Mursansani – Sukarami, Palembang, South Sumatra and the 3rd winner was Asep Ruswandi – Cimaung, Bandung, West Java.

The Arabica Wash category was won by Haditya Pamungkas – Pangalengan, Bandung, West Java. The 2nd winner for this category was Nita Puspita Anugrawati – Sumur Bandung, Bandung, West Java and the 3rd winner was Bukik Gompong Coffee – Gunung Talang, Solok, West Sumatra.
